This week we learned that our dear friend Richard Osler has passed.
The outpouring of posts to honor him on various social media platforms has been deeply moving – such an incredible figure in so many ways. He came to La Romita on a quick visit this summer and we thankfully got to spend some time in his company. His great spirit and explosive, joyful laugh are fresh in our ears. We wish the very best to his cadre of students and followers, all of those who are affected by his loss. You are in our hearts, as Richard will be forever.
For those of you who did not know him, we encourage you to find his page on Facebook and take a look at the posts from this past week, as people have honored him with their memories and words.
Below are a few videos from a zoom we did with him during the Pandemic where he coined the term “plein air poetry” to describe the workshops that he hosted with us. They are a quick slice that we feel shows as much as tells about his great spirit, and why we feel so lucky to have been able to know him and collaborate with him.
