Brody Neuenschwander is a Texas native, now living in Bruges, Belgium. He attended Princeton University, specializing in the techniques of medieval manuscript illumination. He continued his studies in London, completing his doctorate in art history at the Courtauld Institute and studying calligraphy at Roehampton. His varied career as an artist and calligrapher includes working as an assistant to Donald Jackson, collaborating with filmmaker Peter Greenaway providing live-action calligraphy in films such as The Pillow Book and Prospero’s Books, translating the works of German theoretician, Hans-Joachim Burgert, and incorporating the writing systems of Arabic and Chinese calligraphy into his recent work.
