This September, two behind the scenes members of the  La Romita family had the opportunity to visit La Romita in person for the very first time. After supporting from afar — creating content, maintaining the website, and helping share the magic of La Romita with the world,  stepping into the place we’ve worked so hard to represent was nothing short of transformative.
It’s one thing to write about La Romita. It’s another to live it.
We arrived at La Romita just as a session with Ken O’Connell was beginning, and were immediately welcomed into the group like old friends. What followed was a whirlwind of beauty, creativity and connection. From the moment we arrived, we were wrapped in the warmth of community, creativity, and the unmistakable atmosphere that makes La Romita so special.
Together with the group, we explored a number of breathtakingly authentic towns around Terni, each one full of character, history, and soul. From the ancient charm of Narni, to the lakeside serenity of Marta, the rolling views of Montefalco, and the quiet poetry of San Gemini. Every place we visited left its mark. We both agreed: if we were ever to move to Italy, San Gemini would be it. Peaceful, picturesque, and steeped in story. We walked everywhere! Sometimes up ancient stone paths, other times up escalators carved into hillsides and always with a sketchbook or camera in hand. We drew on mountaintops, wandered through Catholic churches older than memory, and even swam in the Mediterranean Sea. One afternoon, we sat quietly in a church as a choir filled the space with song. That moment alone would have been enough.
