Let’s Paint Venice!

“While we dream of travel, let us use art to keep us together. Just a year ago I was in Italy with many of you…in the kind of immersive, dedicated workshops that La Romita has been offering for more than fifty years. Italy is landscape sculpted by man, the architecture of another age, and ancient art that still inspires us today. We will travel to the remarkable city of Venice via Zoom and get lost in its winding streets and cross its bridges. We’ll study the architecture and the reflections created in the many canals. I’ll share how to simplify the details and pull out the light as we paint one of my favorite cities in the World.

I’m very honored that La Romita School of Art has asked me to teach another Zoom Workshop on painting beautiful Italy! We’re scheduled for November 6, 7, and 8and I will provide 18+ hours of painting instruction. Our group fell in love with La Romita last October when we toured the region with our plein air gear in-tow. My goal, as instructor, is to coach you as you paint landscape, water, and structures, turning your efforts into dramatic, expressive paintings, exploring the inspiration of the masters. We will examine space, perspective, and design through practical hands-on lessons that help you build confidence. A portion of the tuition will benefit the wonderful La Romita School of Art located in the heart of Umbria, which had to shutter for 2020 due to Covid. Three days, 10-5, CST.$50-$100 per student will be donated to La Romita, depending on enrollment numbers. Max number is 15, which would provide $1500 to their operations! “
