OIL AND GOUACHE, PLEIN AIR IN UMBRIA with Larisa Aukon

August 18, 2018 - September 1, 2018

$3990.00

During this two week workshop we will paint both in oil and gouache.

Power of Painting
If old architecture, majestic temples, and picturesque streets and landscapes fascinate you, then this workshop is calling your name!
Building on basic principles of painting: composition, design, values, edges and color, this workshop will help you paint credible and convincing architectural motifs and to create  dynamic and powerful landscapes. Deepen and refine your understanding of fundamental  principles of linear and atmospheric perspective, while improving your painting technique, and exploring your views on composition and the world of color. Daily, in-depth demonstrations will offer insight into the creative  process and help you understand and clarify  technical applications. This workshop will be a combination of plein air and studio work depending on the weather. We will learn how to use plein air studies and sketches and how to transform them into major studio works.

Gouache on the the Go
In this workshop  you will learn how to handle the highly portable and versatile medium of Gouache.
Time and space are often issues we face while on the road and wherever that is, our ability to paint may disappear or be burdened with small complications. This workshop will transform your next adventure, be it by land, sea, or air! Gouache on the Go is perfect for  those who prefer to stop and see, to absorb the world around them, and to paint. It is tailored to those who appreciate staying and painting in the moment instead of taking a picture and a shortcut to their destination.

Larisa is a classically trained artist, and expert on color mixing . A  talented and experienced  teacher, she is known for generously  sharing her extensive knowledge and her down to earth  teaching style. Elevate your  painting technique and explore the  world of color, while increasing your understanding of composition. In addition to learning how to work with gouache, this workshop is a wonderful experience for oil painters of any level interested in improving their paint skills.

Larisa Aukon

I truly believe there is an inner “pulse” that runs through everything. There is no greater artistic inspiration for me, than identify this pulse and move it from  my heart on to the canvas.

Over the last several years Larisa Aukon established herself as an accomplished painter and teacher in the US. Larisa’s education and natural talents allow her to create masterfully mixed and layered palettes, supported by a framework of balanced compositions. She fills her canvases with bold strokes of rich pigment capturing the ever changing hues of natural light. The original tones seep through later paint additions, creating depth and brilliance that have become her trademark.
Aukon received initial art training at a prestigious Art School for gifted children in her native Latvia. To be accepted she had to pass extensive academic and art exams, of which only a few were accepted. She had a full academic curriculum and up to 20 art lessons per week from the time she was 12 until graduation. Larisa was then accepted to Latvian State Academy of Fine Arts, graduating with her Master’s.
For the last 20 years  Larisa calls Arizona her home spending time painting and teaching. She’s featured in magazines; Southwest Art, American Art Collector, Cowboys & Indians, Phoenix Home & Garden and a book, Contemporary Art of The Southwest.  Her works are in private and corporate collections throughout the world.
