Have Fun Creating an Art Travel Journal – with Darla Bostick

Each year a group accompanies Darla Bostick for her Art Adventure Abroad to a new destination – and in 2023 it will be to La Romita!
Simply put, Darla’s Art Adventures are just that – a group of artists (and interested non-artists) who wish to experience the culture, sites, foods of another country. Anyone who loves to travel and record their memories is encouraged to join — no art experience required!
On this adventure, Darla will show you how to gather photographs, sketches, paint and use other fun materials as you learn how to make an art journal of the trip. It’s great fun, easy for non-arties to do and is a unique record of your adventure!
You will make art journals with special ideas for each page. On site, you might do some quick sketches or painting but primarily you’ll use your time to see the area, using your camera to gather images. Each day there is a fun challenge for photography as well as the journal itself. There are also lessons dedicated to various techniques. After returning “home” each day, there’ll be time for instruction and creating!
Both new and seasoned artists are welcome – but you don’t have to be an “artist” at all to join us – come learn to journal creatively!
Non-artists/spouses are also welcome to come along so bring a friend, or just plan to make new ones!
About DARLA
“Art is Life!” My images show the world as I see it. I am a Denton, Texas resident with a BFA from Texas Tech University. For 45+ years I have been involved in the arts as an artist, educator and photographer. Love of travel is evidenced in my photographic images which inspire paintings in watercolor or mixed media. I have visited 75+ countries and use my camera to capture colors, architecture, unique landscapes and people’s daily lives. My paint is allowed to blend while on the paper to provide vivid images with clean colors. I’ve taught workshops in several states and abroad: Ireland, Spain, Denmark, Germany, Portugal and France. My work has been accepted to many national and international exhibitions where I have earned some awards. I have participated in several public art projects throughout Texas as well as Washington, D.C.
As La Romita School caters to multiple levels of instruction and various forms of the arts, prices will vary by session, season, instructor, and offerings.
